Obscuring number plates. - Dave
I have to make a long 'A' road journey on Friday.

I want my rear plate hidden from view with simulated road crud.

I've seen cars/bikes with a light grey crud substance that obscures the plate completely.

Before anyone whines I'm not a habitual speeder on back roads and I plan to stick to limits on Friday but a 400 odd mile return trip on 'A' road is sounding like an invitation to get flashed.

Anyone know the best substance/method for this purpose?
Re: Obscuring number plates. - Michael
is the penalty for obscured plates higher or lower than a speeding fine?

Dave,

Think Carole Adams may have something that would do the trick.

Assuming that's not a smutty joke, what?

I'm never smutty Dave.

Remember Carole rides horses. Plenty of material for you there, I'm just about to shift a huge pile so could mail some.

........I've just passed this horse officer. it must have flung up from the tyre and stuck.......

Get them to peel it off, the smell sticks under the fingernails for ages.

Sorry to even suggest it!

No cheers, my Bro and sis have plenty of it!

I've always thought that where you see "Manure 50p a bag" signs with a pot for cash unnatended it would be tempting to drop a few sacks down and take a few 50p's out!

Thanks for the idea. Don't call us we'll call you...

20 pounds non-endorsable.

After a few requests to fix they can remove your number.

Not a problem.

Much lower - £25 and no points

A cycle carrier does the job very effectively. I've seen the police follow a car with the number plate completely obscured by a couple of bikes and not pull them over.

Bikers just reach behind and cover the plate with their hand or get the pillion to do it for them - (seen this happen, helps if they've also got a 'little' plate). You could train your kids / dog to do this with a bit of bribery. Might get done for driving with children hanging out the back of the car though - but if you weren't speeding it must be safe.....

Try parking another vehicle's exhaust behind it, with a bit of hose to adjust angles if necessary and putting a sooty patch in a strategic place.
You then have the excuse that it must have happened at the last place you stopped and you didn't notice it when you got back into your car.

Radical I know, but why don't you try driving without going faster than the speed limit. Works for me!!!!

Good advice and I do.

But everyone gets caught out on strange road every now and then. Bit of hedge over an innapropriate 40 limit and you could end up with a bad.

I am *not* a boy racer.

Nice idea! A - Diesel.

Another good one was to break it and put it on the parcel shelf. Rozzers have sympathy, camera's don't get you.
