Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer - Body Repair - Rear Wheel Arch - Double Skinned? - Deryck

I managed to bend the side of the old girl last week - crease and scrape on nearside rear door into the rear wheel arch. A low bollard jumped out on me ;-)

Price to repair is several hundred pounds and I am not going to bother the insurance company as she is 9 years old. I am thinking of second hand door and repair the wheel arch. So I before I get carried away, I guess the arch is double skinned and inaccessible just above the sill?

Any advice or thoughts welcome!

Simple answer - just ask your friendly local bodyshop. They will probably suck their teeth, but you should get an answer.

Yes, I should have asked when I popped in to get a price! I didn't really think at the time - I got the price, thought better of it and guessed I would leave as it is due to cost. Then thought of the replacement door and a bit of bashing / filling might be a way to go

Hi, You could try one of the local Dentmasters or equivalent - they come to your house and do the repair. I'm sure they will be able to just fix the wheel arch. These guys usually have all sorts of crooked/ bent tools to get into those awkward places. Replacing the door will be easy and if you're not in any hurry you can register on a number of spares website and say you are looking for a particular colour. you'll be surprised what you might get for a few £££.

Hope this helps
