Audi A3 Rear washer feed - chuffed
My wife's A3 rear wash doesn't work. When it had a service they found that that the a feed tube to the rear was disconnected. They reconnected but it had happened again and for the life of me I can't find where the tube is disconnected (if that is what it is). I have removed the interior rear cover to the tailgate and all seems OK. Does anyone know where the tube runs and where this connection may be?
I didn't get a positive response when I asked the garage to tell me where it was routed and where the connection(s) are.

If the tube is disconnected where is the water coming out when you run the rear wash jet?

Hello

Many thanks for your reply. I unwittingly posted my reply to another chap who replied to me and am not sure if this is the way to do things on'honestjohn'. I will reply direct to yourself if that is OK?

If you were to read the my reply to the Renault man, there is no signs of any leakage - unless I've missed something. The car is only five years old and I didn't want to start lifting and removing things - it is true on a more modern car that things are harder to get to to and less DIY orientated. I have to confess to not thinking that the Golf and A3 could be similar in this respect. Believe or not I do have a Golf 4 but they are different in so many ways that apart from sharing the same floor plan can be quite different. Consequently I just never linked the two - still have the same problem in understanding the Golf!
I will possibly renew things with the garage or main agents.

Thank you once again.

Regards
Stuart

Hello again, I've re-read the Golf link and have realised that the route is within the roof void with access initially from within the boot. I will investigate further. The VW link is a good one -thank you! Lack of staining/evidence still bothers me though. Good on the one hand but makes you wonder as to where it might be going if its not showing any evidence of leaking!

Hello

Thank you very much for taking the trouble to reply.

When the connection to the actual rear wash is removed and the washer activated, nothing happens. There does not appear to be any signs of leakage as you would expect if it is disconnected somewhere - the water must be going somewhere! I recall from ealier models that the rear wash pipe was routed on the drivers side along the floor, inside along the interior trim.

The mechanic had led me to believe that the route was external i.e. underneath the car. I've looked and can't find anything. I have tried to trace the route under the bonnet but it is so difficult these days to see anything inside a modern engine compartment!

Another chap has suggested a link with a website featuring a similar problem with a Golf, but here the signs were pretty obvious from staining if interior trim, which of course I don't have. With this the inside of the tailgate was awash with screen wash.

Thank you once again.

Regards
Stuart

Does it make a "pump" noise when you operate the washer? does it use the same bottle as the front screen? If you cant find the water anywhere else, check its actually pumping out of the washer bottle.
