On my mother's venerable 440 1.7i (likely to may be the same running gear as your 480), owned from new in 1989, designed and built with the skill of a five year old if the interior assembly is anything to go by, but totally, utterly, reliable, it is easily adjustable by lock nut on the clutch arm end of the cable.
