Those of you who enjoy verbally-abusing BMWs and/or Chris Bangle [designer of the E60], will no doubt think this is how all E60s should look like. Those who love BMWs and the new look, may be cheered to know that there is a long advance-order list building up already (or you may be disappointed because you do not like to be put on a waiting list for the new car).

This accident happened close to Munich at 4am last Saturday morning. The driver is a 20 year old who works part time as a firefighter and had been called out to attend a forest fire. The car seems to have been travelling at quite a rate of knots and left the road on a right hand curve, went straight through the perimeter fencing of a local army base, demolished a wall and came to rest embedded in the central heating boiler room. The driver was cut free by his fire brigade colleagues (it took an hour to free him) and was airlifted to hospital where he is in a critical condition.

Any car that suffered that amount of damage and the driver survived deserves some credit. Yes the new BMs are ugly but didn't we all hate the E-classs Merc with twin headlights??

Anyway, having gone from RWD to FWD (Merc to Volvo) I'll have RWD any day. For suburban driving, RWD gives you better feel at slower speeds and a superb turning circle. My wife's Mitsu Spacewagon has a worse turing cirle than my partner's Lexus 400.

Nice car for a 20 year old! What's his day job, I wonder?
