Ford mondeo st220 3.0l v6 - Ford Mondeo st220 3.0 v6,,, cuts out on start - Shaun davies Davies

I have a mk3 st220 with the v6,, evrything runs fine it pulls though all the gears like nothing,, recently on a cold start it will struggle run crap then cut out if no revs, also theres like a straching sound when it tuns over?? i cant seem to find the proplem and cant see anyone else having the same thing? Anyone no what it could possibly bee??

Also on hard revving i get a "humming" sound round about the 3 3500 rpm stage? Is this what they call moosing?? Or is this linked to it sttuggling to start???

Any help will be appreciated thanks!

I have owned one of these for the last 10 years,and can’t say I have experienced any fault like this. I would check the numerous plastic /rubber breather hoses at the back of the engine,behind the inlet trunk, these can become brittle and fracture. The moosing noise is not uncommon on these and due to the design of the air filter box and pipe work .

Thanks for reply,, yhh its weird its started to doit almost evry first turn of the day now, when its warmed up its fine, revs seem go high then low n stall it self.

Ill have a check of them nice one for advice
