Semi-synthetic QXR oil on a W140 SClass?

Semi-synthetic QXR oil on a W140 SClass? - Rojer

My Mercedes specialst insists that the QXR semi-synthetic is okay on a 1996 W140 S280 Mercedes Benz.

This seem to contradict what others have said. Your thoughts please.

According to the MB data sheet I have for this car, it should be OK with pretty much any 'SG' rated oil. They specify a 5W-40 for 'All Temperatures' and a 10W-40 for 'Above -20C'. I think you would be fine with QXR.
