2011 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Sport Hatchback - Fuel filling problem with easy fuel - maerty

Bought this car and easy fuel cap had been removed and empty hole is in its place

When we try to fill car we have to fill very slowly as it starts to overflow and fuel comes out if we fill at normal speed. This happens even when near empty.

The fueling noozle starts clicking as well if try to fill at normal speed.

Can you change the fuelling system or do we need to stick it on diagnostics as someone said it may be due to a previous theft of fuel from vehicle and them removing easy fuel cap.

The owners are my parents and they let it run down very low on fuel often due to difficulty of filling up car.

sorry dont know the car, but does it come with plastic adapter for filling by fuel can, if so try inserting that instead and use the fuel nozzle as normal, I`v seen it done in local garage and it appears to be a common occurance the flap either not working or missing

the pipe has a sensor or 2 that should detect the nozzle being inserted into the pipe and open the second flap, but may be affected by the missing top flap, I gather they are expensive to replace?

This needs to be sorted .If the filler neck closure is missing,this will be an Mot failure.
