Volkswagen Polo Hatch 2011 1.2 petrol - Does my car have a flywheel? - 8Mar7

I know this sounds like a stupid question but my car is currently in the vw garage as it broke down (still under used approved Warranty). Warranty not paying out as they believe the car has broken down due to clutch wear and tear which has caused damage to the flywheel.

I have asked 2 independent garages that I trust to provide a quote on parts and labour costs for the car. They both cannot seem to find a flywheel for the car. They both told me the car doesn't have one!

Is this true? If the car does have a flywheel does anyone know what type of flywheel?

Thanks

All cars have a flywheel. I think the issue here is wether the car is fitted with a standard flywheel or a "dual mass" type. The VW parts dept should be able to identify what type is fitted from the vin number, however there can be anomalies .So what part is listed ,may not be fitted to your car.

I would not expect a 1.2 petrol to have a DMF but the engine in question is the horrid 1.2 3 cylinder VAG unit so it may heve been fitted with one in an attempt to smooth out the vibrations.

As suggested above ask the VW parts dept, they will know.

Whatever you do don't go back to either of the 2 garages that have told you your car does not have a flywheel. They obviously should not be in the garage bussiness.
