Car Hire admin fee for an invalid parking ticket - nicdigby

Hello
I have received a Parking Fine for a car I was using via Circle Leasing car hire. It's a parking charge notice issued by Parking Eye. (camera operated system at the local hospital). The T & C of the car hire company say they will pass on an admin fee of £30 for any parking fines, including those on private land.
The fine is for not paying any parking at a local hospital and driving out the car park without paying. However I have a disabled blue badge and correctly registered the car's number plate that day with my blue badge onto the hospital system via their reception staff -that's the rule at the hospital. That's what you to do and then you get free unlimited parking for blue badge holders. I also parked in a blue badge space with my blue badge displayed properly on the dashboard.
The hospital have acknowledged they are at fault and have agreed to cancel the fine.
However, Circle Leasing have already charged me £30 admin fee onto my debit card for passing on the parking fine to me. How do I go about getting this cancelled please? In my opinion it's an admin fee for an invalid parking fine that has been straight away cancelled by the issuer as soon as I wrote to them today.
But I would appreciate knowing what to write in the email in order to get the car hire company to cancel this admin fee and refund me.
Many thanks
Nic

If there is an admin fee for dealing with the ticket then I don't think your innocence is relevant. It's covering their costs in shuffling the paperwork.

Parking Eye and/or the hospital cocked up. You need to look to them for your £30.

The admin fee from the leasing company is payable whether you commented any offence or not.

If the parking company/hospital made a mistake then you claim the admin fee from the parking company/hospital

OP have you acted on the advice from other forums you have posted this on?

The hospital having admitted fault is obviously open to being pursued for any damages their actions caused. However, I don't know your circumstances, but if a £30 charge causes you financial difficulty then you should take steps to recover this. If your financial position is otherwise you may think twice about suing your local hospital. If you use the hospital frequently then it is better to engage with them to avoid any unpleasantness. I would make an appointment to see the Finance Manager or one of his assistants and discuss the matter with them. I feel sure they would be sympathetic to your situation and rectify any problem caused. Also, if you do use the hospital and this situation re-occurs then will have someone at the hospital to sort it out for you.

Cheers Concrete

Why not just write and letter/email to the renatl place and explain your circumstance and see what they say?

I recently drove a displabled person to a location that uses an ANPR system. The signage said that blue badges should be taken to the reception for free parking. Problem was there was nobody in reception and I was told they often go home when it is quiet! I was tempted to just pay but when I saw the exorbitant fees for a near empty car park I declined. Now I am waiting to see if I get a ticket in the post from them!

I hope you took some phorographs of the empty reception desk and the time and date. Just the sort of evidence to stick it to them RaineMan. Don't you just despise it when 'they' put a procedure in place then fail to follow it. At least if you prove they have failed in their duty you are not liable for any penalty incurred. Cheers Concrete
