Can anyone advise as to what the common causes of a very heavy clutch are?
The car in question is a Mk1 Fiat Punto 1.2 60s.

If cable operated, it could be a worn cable.
|
Rusty shaft on which it swivels? (remove and grease but try oil first)
At end of life? (mileage, lots of stop/start journeys/ slip clutch a lot)
Pressure plate broken..(Will not last long)
Worn clutch release bearing (noise when depressed?)
