I've just obtained a quote from Chips Away for the repair of a 2ft-long vandal scratch on the offside front wing, plus another small chip on the wheel arch of the same wing -- £120 for both -- plus the removal of a scrape on the corner of the plastic rear bumper -- £90. Does that strike you as reasonable? The paint is metallic.

I know several people who have had this type of repair carried out and the repairs looked great for a year or so but then the scratches showed through again and looked awful.
I had some dents removed and that worked a treat.
It would be interesting to hear peoples experiences on this type of repair as some little muppet decided my new Merc would look good with a scratch down both nearside doors.
As for the original question the prices sound good providing the repairs last.

Sounds like a poor-durability topcoat in such cases (poor quality paint coating and/or too thin).

Chips Away are OK, but I found an independant in Sunderland who are *much* cheaper. They seem to do an equally good job too. They fixed a couple of stone chips in my Fiesta for £5 and gave me the leftover paint to takeaway aswell, and they fixed a nasty scrape in my gran's Toyota body coloured bumper for £80, and you couldn't tell it had ever been damaged. (They didn't even notice when the car was traded in:)
Almost forgot, it's Car Medic, in case anyone happens to be near them.

Thanks for all these responses. There is a two-year guarantee on the work. I think I'll go with it.

Were you happy with the result? I ask because I've just had three scratches repaired by Chips Away. The scrathes were caused by some low life with a key or similar. One of the repairs is OK, although not invisible. The other two, whilst the scratch itself has disappeared, it looks like it's been resprayed with an aerosol. Mine is also metallic.

Chris if you're not happy take it back. I've had "car park wars" scratches repaired by Chips Away and I am completely satisfied.

I contacted Chips Away on Friday to have some minor parking dents removed, however they do not cover the Twickenham area. Can anyone recommend a company that can help?

Try ChipsAway via the RAC - their website has details.
A word of caution - You could be better this was as I had a repair to my bumper done by ChipsAway but needs the paint blending a little better. The trouble is that the franchise that did it has changed hands and the current owners didn't want to know. Apart from the slight blending problems the job is very good and worth the £80

Yes, I am happy with the result. The most serious scratch, on the offside front wing, about a metre long in total and which looked pretty deep in the middle (probably a key job), has disappeared completely. The scuffed bumper is also as new. They also touched in a couple of bonnet chips, free of charge, having warned me that it was impossible to get a perfect result with them.

. . . and, having looked at my original message again, I should report that the chipped wheel arch was repaired perfectly too.

Thanks for the response - I can feel a phone call coming on.
