'85 golf gti starting trouble - Pies
I started driving the golf after a few months off the road and within a couple of days the engine was playing up. It starts but within 5-10 seconds it cuts out. Eventually the engine would start and when driving it seemed fine. This problem has now got so bad it will not start at all. I've changed the fuel filter + metering head with no change in symptoms. There is definitely no fuel reaching the injectors on turnover however the fuel pump seems to be working ok, supplying fuel to the metering head..... any ideas??

Fuel pump relay faulty/not priming properly? When you turn the ignition on from cold you should get a 1 second (approx) priming noise (a buzz) from the fuel pump...
