Any thoughts as to why windscreen wipers won't park properly after being switched off?

Do they just stop mid-screen or nearly at park? Check the fused supply to the permanently live terminal of the motor. There could also be a changeover relay in the circuit that diverts power from the wiping circuit to the parking circuit a la Rover.

Wiper bearings are known to wear after three years and arms rub against the bonnet. Doesn't sound like your problem though.
