Ford fiesta 1.4 Tdci - Judder/miss fire - Bert81
Hi, I have a ford fiesta 1.4 tdci 2007, recently I noticed when cruising I get a slight judder, when I take my foot of the throttle and apply again it seems to go, also on start up from cold it seems to miss fire for about a minute or so then idles/runs ok, but you hear a diesel knock when pulling away, but again this goes when up to temp, anyone have any ideas what could be the fault on this? Have been told the throttle pedal could have a flat spot in it that may course the judder/miss fire when cruising but not when first started in the mornings, many thanks

A common problem with these engines are that the injector seals leak & allow combustion products to contaminate the oil.

This can lead to major problems with other pars of the engine.

If you can remove the cam cover, look at each injector & check for any build-up of crud around its base. One or more may be affected.

If the injectors are clear, it could be a sticking EGR valve which will need cleaning.

I'd go with a sticking EGR valve too. It should only open during cruise conditions, and should not be open at all when the engine is idling or at full load.

Ok thanks for your reply, think I will start with the erg valve as cheapest option, I don't get any hissing when start the car so don't think the seals have gone on the injectors, I will clean the egr valve this weekend and see what happens, I'll keep you posted, thank for your help.
