Diesel Turbo - when to replace ?? - surfer
I have recently bought a 940td 1995. 140Kmiles,service history to 110K. very clean engine BUT, it is using a lot of oil(1 pint 300 miles!!).The lower side of the inlet turbo is oily, the supply pipe up to the intake manifold is oily inside, and some oil also in the rocker box to turbo breather. There does not however appear to be any backpressure in the rocker box cover. Air filter is clean and pipes secure. How do I diagnose whether it is a turbo or other problem?? (oh yes, sudden puffs of very black smoke under harder acceleration/ high revs)
