Hi All. Joined the motorway slip road, accelerated, lost all power and slowed to a halt. huge trail of oil.n.s.f whell lathered in the stuff. Inspected by garage engineer who concluded that the turbo popped first, causing all the oil to be sucked out. bits of the impeller went into the engine and gnarled at that.

I was fortunate to find a genuine LR replacement engine, crated and ready to fit, via an internet search. An independent specialist is fitting the engine. I havent gone down the LR dealership route as the initial quote was @ £14000, this way I can do it for @£10000. Whilst looking at LR and RR forums I found that a number of others had suffered similarly, and so though I might have a go at clawing back via the manufacturer.

I contacted LR asking them for a contribution. they were initailly open to the request and requested more details via a list of questions.On learning that the engine was already removed from the car LR said that it would only have inspected the engine had it still been in the car, rather than on the pallet it now sits on., and so wont help.

I'd like to gain a professional engineer's report, and submit it, (if it states turbo failure leading to engine destroyed) and submit it to LR, with a rather more direct request for contribution. Anyone have any advice/recommendations ?
