Why is everyone so cagey about giving them out.

I turned up *in* the car, and was told to come back with ID.

If someones made a clean getaway in your car do you *really* care if they listen you your radio?

It depends if you've left anything embarrasing in the tape deck. Nothing more embarrasing than going out for the night with the lads in the car and "The Wheels on the Bus go round and round" comes blaring out the stereo as you switch it on to demonstrate the whoompf factor of your latest sub woofer concealed in the parcel shelf.

My most embarrassing was from a borrowed CD (honest) which produced Ivor Biggun's "The Winker Song [misprint]" at 110dB as the local Vauxhall dealer turned the ignition key... The look on his face suggested he thought it was entirely appropriate.

I removed the radio this lunchtime and someone had helpfully written the number twice on the cover.

(How do people steal radios? I've been out in the car park for 30mins with two coat hangers freezing my nads off... ...if you work out the hourly rate a car thief would be better off working in McDonalds.)

Once more I can listen to Terry Wogan's seductive blend of good natured chat and easy listening classics on my way into Toad Industries...

Anyone care to tell me how to disable the code number?

LLoyds Motors in Aberaeron will give out Volvo codes over the phone to anyone.
I know because I rang up to find out what kind of documentation I would need, just having bought the car, and was amazed to find they didn't even want my name - he asked the registration number and gave me the code.

Tip for radio thieves: peer in through the windows until you see a radio you fancy, note the registration number, ring up the dealer and get the code, then follow the car and nick it at your leisure.

That's the quality of service I've been looking for!

For every thief there will be 150 satisfied customers!

Don't laugh Toad!
The majority of top-end car radio theft around here occurs within a week of the system being fitted...
and the scrotes never have a problem bypassing the alarm, for some reason...
Are the two occurences connected? I think we should be told ...

It's 25 quid to get the thing 'decoded'. Hardly worth the phone call to the dealer for the code.

I've come to the conclusion that codes are not a deterrent.

Removable panels are.

I also leave the doors unlocked. There's nothing of value in the car and I'd rather it didn't get broken so scrotes can find this out!

Number Plate Changes. - M.M
And in the same way this stupid stupid postcoded number plate thing is plain daft.

All that hassle with ID etc...the "boys" have sorted a workaround already.
