Audi A3 8PA 2005 1.9tdi - Changing front dics and pads - mak

Need to change front discs and pads. As discs have an outer lip it's difficult to extract pads so would normally push in caliper piston with the bleed valve open and brake hose clamped. Just worried now after looking at a VAG diagnostic meter as it stated, amongst other things:-

-" Deactivates and re-activates brake control system
- Retracts calipers for brake pad replacement (open and close )
- Advances calipers after servicing to the original position without affecting the current calibration
- Initializes the wear indicator if new pads installed"

Question is, can I change the front discs/pads without a meter or must I get this done at the garage with the proper diagnostic equipment?
Many thanks

You appear to be referring to the EPB ( Electronic Parking Brake ) on the rears. The front do not require any VCDS.
You have two different calipers for that model/ Do you know what you have. Look through the caliper ans see if you have a spring resting on the outer pad and describe it to me.
You will need the torque setting and procedure which I have. Regards Peter

Peter, thank you for the reply.
I have the FS111 front calipers with 280mm discs. No spring on outer pad as I believe this is on the FN3 caliper probably on faster models.
