Ford servicing

If I had a major service on my Mondeo at Ford Rapid fit rather than going to the service department, at the same premises, would this affect the validity of my warranty. The reason I ask is that the cost of a major sevice in the Rapid fit bay is about £80 cheaper !????.

Not at all. If you read your manual,all Ford require that the car is serviced to their spec. I hardly expect a Rapid Fit concession would not fail to meet that spec. Especially as they are usually on the same site and owned by Ford.

I think Ford are quite generous in that respect. Other major manufacturers will sniffily dismiss you if you tried the same thing.

Agreed, my car's warranty (all 12 months of it) is valid provided tghe car is serviced anywhere that follows their schedule. Which Rapid Fit must do...

Careful with this one Kith. I recently bought a used SL500 which came with 1 years Signature warranty. Signature is managed by the RAC.
I had warranty work done on the Climate Control Panel (a new one) with which my local main dealer didn't exactly cover himself in glory.
I have a Merc indepedant specialist local to me that provides everything the main dealer does but at significantly less hourly rates. When I contacted Signature to ask if I could have the Indepedant do all the servicing and still retain my warranty benefits I was met with a big fat NO.
Best check with whoever runs your warranty before going outside the main dealer network for any work.

They even use the same Ford service paperwork detailing the work done with the red, yellow, green indicators.

All it seems to me is that you get the same service, but without a courtesy car, and you have to go to the shed out the back and deal with the mechanic, rather than the receptionist inside.

Thankyou all for the replies, I'll take your advice and use Ford's Rapid fit, as it is a Ford Warranty.
