Fiesta Rattle. - midlifecrisis
My wifes 1.25 Zetec Fiesta has just had its first MOT and 30'000 mile service.The mechanic has pointed out a rattling sound from the drivers side of the engine. He couldn't identify where it was coming from. I've had a listen and it's definitely there, although not obvious. Anybody any ideas?
Incidently, the major service cost £89.95. at Ford Rapid Fit. If it had been booked in at the dealer service desk (same premises) the same service would have cost £159.95.

I'd suggest you have the cam belt,guides and tensioner checked ASAP.

Check the auxiliary drive belt for fraying as wel as the tensioner

MLC - I had exactly the same problem on my Fiesta when it was brand new, it turned out to be a tensioner in the fan belt IIRC.

Well worth taking it to the main dealers and asking them, my local one recognised it straight away, and like I say, it was a rattling noise coming from the driver's side of the engine.

Good luck, great little car though aren;t they?

Just got rid of my 1.4 Zetec 97. It too had a rattle from new and at 38,000 miles a piston ring went- new s/hand engine needed.now it seems it is a recognised fault. Be careful.
