Nissan Micra K12 - Indicators gone mad! - MaxWil

Hi,

First time of posting here, as my Micra has developed a strange fault just before we are going on on holiday in it.

Hopefully someone might be able to point me in the right direction to fix it.

When I put the RH indicator on the following happen:-

1. If accelerating the car will lurch or lose power in time with the indicator!

2. If braking at the same time the indicator flashes faster

3. If I have the healights on, the rear indicator is dimmed and the rear headlamp and the tail light, flash in time with the indicator.

I have tried swaping the left head read light cluster over, but the problem remains, I'm assuming this is a short some where, any pointers as to how to try and find the short!.

Rear headlamp?

Have you tried renewing the RH indicator bulb(s) ? Odd things can happen when a bulb fails. And what do the hazard lights do?

It sounds like you have lost an earth connection. Start my locating the earth as the rear lighs. Regards Peter

Many thanks for your help. I think I will get some new bulbs first, then try looking for the bad earth.

I agree with what this guy says, uless it's CANBUS, in which case you'll need a magician.

Remove both the rear lights.You will probably find that the multi-pin connectors to the lamp clusters have burnt slightly.Clean and re-tension the contacts,and hopefully this will sort the problem.Nissan use the same junk connectors as Renault models.Need I say more.hth

I would suspect a bad earth at the rear light cluster.

Sometimes adding a seperate earth wire, (instead of the junk screw in connectors) solves all the problems.

I doubt it will be the bulbs, just the connectors and/or earth, (return path through chassis).

SOLVED!!!

I managed to run a new earth from the indicator bulb holder all OK now.
