suzuki sx4 2006 1.9 diesel - oil light flickering - ruthers

Hi, a minute after starting to drive the car, the oil warning light blinks, then after a minute of blinking/flickering it goes off again...i have had a new switch put in, new oil change and filter and even was told to unhook the battery turn the key over a few times to reset the computer and still the blooming thing keeps flickering...any hints on how to overcome this?

thanks

I wouldn't carry on using it until its had an oil pressure test, you may have a blocked strainer and the oil pressure is genuinely low ! A garage will normally screw in an oil pressure gauge where the oil pressure switch fits.
You must establish the oil pressure before looking for an electrical fault

"was told to unhook the battery turn the key over a few times" How does the car turn over with the battery disconnected. ?? Regards Peter

You must get the oil pressure checked before starting the car again otherwise the engine could fail. If that is ok then other reasons can be found then.

There is a reason the opl is RED

I've said this before, but will repaet it again:

If the opl comes on whilst driving, in the first instance you should assume it is doing what it is supposed to, ie it is warning you of low oil pressure. It is a RED light, which means you should stop as soon as safe to do so. Have the car recovered to a garage and the problem investigated - which should always include a proper oil pressure test.
