Mercedes-Benz ML-Class - Merc ML350 flat battery - Charlie Croker

Hi All, My genious brother left the car on my folks drive about 5 months ago and I need to move it. The battery seems completly flat, so I had to use the mechanical key to open the drivers door. None of the other doors will open from the inside or out.

So I have worked out that the battery is under the drivers seat, I cannot access it as I can't move the electrical chair forward or open the rear passenegr door, so obvious next course of action is to jump start it.

2 questions please,...

The fuse box in the engine bay has a large live terminal, can I use that to connect a spare battery and earth to a clean point in the engine bay?

Is the likely hood that the existing battery is goosed having been discharged for so long? I do have a smat charge HD batter conditioner..

Cheers

Chris

A healthy battery will hold some charge for a long time .. yours is FUBAR...

Use the positive terminal post and a good earth point to get some voltage into the system to enable the seat to be moved. With the battery so flat,I would not suggest a jump start.

Thanks for the replies gents.

Good shout on just using the good spare battery to gain access - obvious but had not thought of that :-)

Just found a Merc PDF of the battery removal on line, bit of a ball ache I must say, they certainly didn't design this to be accessed frequently or easily..
