BMW M135 - M135 shudders on full lock in reverse - ChrisGT

Hi,

My wife's BMW M135 shudders initially when she reverses on full lock. It is 2015 model with 30k miles, any suggestions at to what may be the cause?

Sticking rear brake caliper or corrosion on rear disc.

Most services now don't include a brake service. As rear discs get very little exercise in everyday use. Good idea to remove pads and clean up calipers annually or 12k mileage.

Check rear discs for any corrosion or pitting. Minor stuff might just clean up with a firm brake application. Other wise might need new discs & pads.

If it doesn't judder with the front wheels straight it can't be the rear discs.

As the OP says it happens on full lock could the tyres be fouling something on wheel arch or suspension?

It is a well known fact that using the power steering on any car on full lock for extended period is detrimental to the Hydraulics or electric motor driving the power steering. Surprised no technician as mentioned this

Thanks for the advice Sammy, full lock is only on for a few seconds at a time, once or twice a day so don't believe it will be a factor here.

Did this ever get sorted. Mines just started the same sproblem. Checked the arms. Tyres the lot. Still same problem. Someone mentioned the gearbox mount

It may simply be the steering geometry. At slow speed the front wheels simply will not follow their directed path and "hop". Have you tried it going forwards on full lock too?

You are on very low profile tyres on this car, it wi l "CRAB"....
