My son was buying a 5 year old Iveco daily and decided to check the mileage/MOT history. The mileage was high and very erratic and the mOT history had a number of advisories on a regular basis. Speaking to the dealer he clims that the problem with the mileage is that the truck can be on kilometers or miles and MOT checks do not always ensure that it is recorded in miles at the test. After a lot of thinking we have decided not to proceed. Too many inconsistences and poor history.

It just confirms that the MOT/Mileage history is a very useful tool if buying a used vehicle.

Just a word of warning. If your son is specifically looking for a daily, certainly on older ones, getting the timing belt done is a big job. Might be worth looking into if this was still the case for a 2012 model and if so, look for one with it recently done.

I had a 2002 swb high roof version when i 1st started cleaning windows, and while i soon came to the conclusion that a smaller, lighter and more economical van would suit my needs better, i still miss that iveco, 7.5 years later!.

Agree,...The online MOT check is the very first thing I would do if buying a used (3 years+) vehicle.

I have directed so many peeps to this facility and many are not aware that such a check even exists.!...it gives a potential purchaser some degree of "power"....or the sure knowledge that he or she should simply walk away.

An "iffy" MOT history always makes me nervous.

It is invaluable IMO.
