Vauxhall Corsa D - Under Bonnet Insultation - hatman

I'm intending to buy a March 2012 Corsa 1.4 SXi from auction - in the notes it states that the under bonnet insulation is missing - the other side of the bonnet is just painted metal with no insulation material. Am I right in thinking though that Corsas of this age were never fitted with any insulation material under the bonnet? If it is missing, is it likely to cost much to replace it?

Thanks in advance

Can't speak for Corsas, but some years back it was common for underbonnet insulation to be provided only on the higher-specced models in the range. I would guess it is possible to get some from a dealer, or even off a scrap car if you're lucky, and fitting should be easy. I don't suppose dealers will give it away though.

Easy enough to retro fit, buy some fireproofed suitable insulation, cut to size and glue it in place.

My old Merc's undebonnet insulation started to drop, after gluing back in place some dozen years ago it's never shifted.

We have had a few of these in the family up to 2010.None have had any bonnet insulation. They were all petrol engines. The diesel models may be different.

I agree with Andrew. On Peugeots it was standard, then around 2007 they only added it to higher spec models.

Easily rectified by going round the scrap yards.

I'm thinking further back than that, Gibbo - about 1990. I seem to remember some 205s had noise absorbent on turbo diesels? The 205s I have at the moment, both Garroses, were near the top of the range but neither has any bonnet insulation.
