Hyundai i20 62 reg. - Defect not fixed during warranty period - capricorn

My daughter has a Hyundai i20 62 reg. which has had a fault whereby all the dash warning lights come on during driving and even on two occasion also refused to start. The AA have attended twice and advised they think it is a wiring fault. All this has occurred during the warranty period and the Hyundai dealer has failed to find/fix the fault on three occasions.

The problem happened again yesterday although the car kept running.

My question is if the dealer fails to fix within the warranty period and the fault persists are they legally obliged to fix it after the warranty expires. I assume they are but has anyone any info. or advice please?

Many thanks.

The fact that the faukl first occurred during the warranty period, was reported to the dealer who then failed to fix it "should" mean fixing the fault is still the dealers responsibilty.

But it could be a battle. Suggest you get Hyundai Customer services involved. They will be able to put prssure on the garage and also assist them if its a known issue.

Skidpan,

Thanks for your advice.

The vehicle is going back to the dealer again next week for them to try again!

However, I shall take your advice and contact Customer Services to make them aware of the problem which will at least record the facts before the warranty expires in December.

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond.

The i20 has now gone in for Vantage to see if they can find the fault(s) at the third attempt.

Having had a conversation with CA they tell me the end of the warranty period is not something Hyundai can hide behind if they fail to fix the problem before the warranty ends.

We shall see if they can find a solution this time around if not then I may have to take legal advice and see where that leads.
