My local Ford dealer does not use Ford oil-they use Shell-presumably cheaper when they buy in bulk.It's not even the correct spec. for my car but it is shown as an alternative if the correct spec. is not available.They use 5w/30 rather than 5w/20 which has been the spec. for at least four years.I do notice that many of the smaller sellers still show 5w/30 for my car presumably because they don't sell 5w/20.

Yes, I believe they use 5w20 in the 1.0T Ecoboost. Although from the photo's I've seen of heads melting inside the ports I'd say it was poor head design and/or incapable cooling system.

Makers don't always get it right, and there have been many instances of service requirements being revised when failures have shown the original recommends didn't give a respectable service life.
