Ibiza 2011-1.2 TDI 75hp - Does it have a turbo an dpf ? - 3uga

Hi!

Does anyone know of this car is equiped with a turbo and dpf? It's hard to belive that it gets 75hp form a 3 cylinder 1.2 liter without a turbo, but couldn't find anything about this engine.

It has both a turbocharger and a DPF. I've the very same engine in my 2012 Polo Match that I use for commuting and it's quite a pleasant wee motor. Mine's at 56,000 miles without a problem so far. Nice quirky offbeat 3cyl thrum, plenty of torque for a small engine, far better than the normally asperated petrol 1.2 or 1.4. Drives like an old school turbo diesel with a very limited power band and lots of lag but I find it fun to drive round this.

They do suffer from DPF issues if you're not doing distance almost daily and post emissions 'fix' the car has increased turbo lag and a tendency to stall if you're not careful but fuel economy hasn't been dented all that noticeably. If you own it or intend on buying it then don't let the manufacturer or dealer badger you into having the update done, you're not legally obliged (yet) so don't have it done. It damages low speed drivability, slightly harms economy and increases the number of DPF regens which will shorten its lifespan. You gain nothing from the update.

Well, the "T" in TDI stands for turbo and since the car has to be at least Euro IV compliant, it will have a dpf (or rather, if did when first sold).
