Renault Clio. - Best place to buy a spare wheel - malct

Looking for a Renault Clio full size wheel and tyre 195/55/16 with jack, have found one on a auction site for a £150, but was looking for something more cheaper, i believe that i can pickup a new tyre for £50 but its trying to find a wheel and not sure if all 16in wheels will fit a 2016 Clio.

Any help on where to get a 16 in wheel from would be great, i have checked a scrap yard that deals in Renault's up in Scotland, but no luck.

Mk IV Clio alloy wheel on eBay for £100....

Wheels can be very different with various widths, offsets, PCD and four or five stud...

A Renault dealer, the internet auction site or a Clio-specific owners forum are your best bets - and likely your only ones.

Bear in mind that the offset, PCD, etc may differ from generation to generation of the car. Buying the wrong (and useless) wheel through trying to save a few quid would be a really expensive mistake.

We got a full size steel wheel (with tyre fitted) for my son's Sandero from mytyres.co.uk online. £85 delivered.

The problem withbuying steel wheels nowadays is that since the increase in popularity of winter tyres, sellers have dramatically bumped up the price of steel wheels.

A couple of suggestions though. 1, if you have a breakers yard near you (even better if it is one of the few left where you can actually go in and get what you want yourself) try there first. If you get no joy there, go on line to get the pcd, o/s and centre bore (www.wheelfitment.eu). Find out which other cars share the same specs, because if there is one that is 'less trendy', it will almost certainly be cheaper. But as already mentioned, it is vital that you only fit wheels with the same specs as your clio.

Assume this is same pre reg Clio you picked up a few weeks ago and is mentioned in another thread. I'd get wheel from dealer spares desk and tyre from my usual fast fit. Generic jack from HAlfords.

Bit late now but you might have got a 'result' if you'd made deal dependant on provision a full size spare. Worked for my Skoda Roomster but they may have been keen to close that as it had mileage that would put off a lot of S/H buyers.

And of course there's nothing to stop you putting the space saver or goo kit on e-bay.

Thank you all for your comments, yes it was the pre reg car that i picked up 2 weeks ago and believe me i tried to get a spare wheel in the deal but with no luck, i did get a full tank of fuel.

The dealership told me that to get a spare wheel, it had to be ordered when buying a new car and unable to fit a wheel to a car without a cradle.

Looking at www.wheelfitment.eu, there is a large range of Nissan/Dacia and renaults that use the same size, so looks like renault have their own messurments that are not compatable with other makes

I think i will get in touch with a Renault dealership and ask how much for a steel wheel and if cheap enough, then get the wheel and go to a local tyre supplier,

Looking at some of the comments, it certainly not has simple has it looks, so thank you for the advice as i know it has to be right.

Just had quick look on ebay, there is a brand new 16" renault steel wheel for £35 with free delivery. Also, you can get a brand new uniroyal rainsport of the correct size for about £55 with free delivery (other cheaper tyres are available too, i didnt look that hard!). You should be able to find a local garage to fit and balance it for around a tenner.

Will a full size wheel and tyre fit anywhere? You may have to take off an existing one to try.

I checked out that wheel item 8200110149 and it says This item does not fit Renault Clio 2017 MK IV [2012-2017] Hatchback 1.5 dCi 110.

I checked out that wheel item 8200110149 and it says This item does not fit Renault Clio 2017 MK IV [2012-2017] Hatchback 1.5 dCi 110.

Weirdly, it took some looking to find that the current clio does indeed have a 5 stud layout, (5x114.3, with a 60.1 centre bore and 44 offset). And while the website i suggested does not list this, it does show that there is a greater selection of cars with the same pcd and c/b. The offset, up to a point, does not have to be exactly the same. If you look on the website under 'what is offset, it will tell you that +/- 5mm is acceptable (unlike the centre bore, which has to be exact)). This effectively gives you a range of offset's from 39-49 to play with. Despite the ammount of makes listed within this range, there is not much to choose from on ebay, but one did jump out. The wheel is a 16" x 6.5" for a '96-'99 nissan primera, it has the correct pcd, centre bore, and the offset is 40, so within range. The price is just under £40 with free postage.

Hi, Thank you Badbusdriver for your help, My car is 4 stud, But Ebay was saying that is was not the correct wheel.

Another concern that i have is the law on tyre pressure sensors on spare wheels, I know nothing about these and how they are fitted, Any advice on what to look out for and what to ask for.

Hi, Thank you Badbusdriver that that, another concern that i have is the law on tyre pressure sensors on spare wheels, I know nothing about these and how they are fitted, Any advice on what to look out for and what to ask for.

Im afraid i no nothing about tyre pressure sensors, but i very much doubt there is any 'law' regarding them, as not all cars have them fitted. I do know that you can buy after market sensors which are built into valve caps, but i dont know if that is how they all work.

Renault Clio. - Best place to buy a spare wheel - malct

Just looking at the valves "Sensor valves can be expensive to replace with single units costing anywhere from £45 to £150."

www.motoringassist.com/motoring-advice/car-mainten.../

If you have then fitted and if the TPMS is not working during the cars MOT, its a automatic fail.

I think the best way forward is to get the spare wheel and in 3 years time when the car is due for its MOt, then i will leave the wheel at home.

Just a update

Bought a steel wheel and tyre from renault for £98 , Only issue, they could not supply a 16" wheel and are suppling me with a 15inwheel and the tyre will be 185/65/15.

The guy on parts told me that 15in was standard for the new clios , I think it's maybe because the bottom of the range of clios do come in the 15in wheel.

Picking the wheel up later in the week
