Ford Fiesta - Ford Fiesta electrics gone weird (!) - Toneeb

Hi all,

I bought a 2007 (MK6) Ford Fiesta back in November and something happened today which has thrown me completely and also Google cannot help!

This morning, the alarm started to go off. Thought it was the weather and the key fob turned it off as it should. However, this happened 10 or so more times - with me turning it off with the fob) before it finally stopped.

All nice and quiet so i got in and started it up. First thing I noti>ed was the heated rear screen light was on (when i turned the ignition on. I couldnt turn it off) Then i noticed that the front heated screen button didnt work.

Ok...

I thought i would give it a run round the block to see if it would clear. No luck but also the following wont work

Hazard lights (ignition off or on), Indicators, Rear wiper (although the screen wash jets work), stage one of the front wiper (the intermittent 'makr') and interior light.

Car is driveable and starts fine. The fact that only some parts of the electrics has got me completely stumped.

Can anyone shed some light onto this?

Many thanks!

I wonder if the battery is going bad? If it's the original one it might be due for replacement - a failing battery can generate all sorts of faults on modern cars.

Cheers Hope its not that, this battery is only a month old from new!)

All those functions are controlled by the general electronic module.Any spike in the electrical system can cause it to misbehave.Disconnect the battery for 5 mins and retry.

Cheers, left the battery disconnected all night and just reconnected. Still got the same problem. I can only think the ecu is knackered as i can't see all the relevant fuses going at the same time could they?
