Toyota doesn't do a Yaris Verso, a Corolla Verso and an Avensis Verso any more.

Just one Verso, built at the Adapazari factory in Turkey. And, after 430,000 of the previous version, this is the new one, on Toyota's World MC platform.

I recently had the back tyres on my car replaced - why does my car feel less sure-footed now?

"I've always used 205/60 H16 Michelin ESaver tyres on my 2010 Toyota Verso. The front tyres needed replacing and I was persuaded to fit Michelin 205/60R16 Cross Climate + 96H XL. Since then, the car doesn't feel as sure-footed. The alignment of the wheels was checked when the tyres were replaced, which was found to be perfect, and I regularly check the air pressure."
It needs Cross Climate on all four wheels, not merely the front pair. They also need to be at the correct pressures, which will be the lowest cold pressures listed for the car. Cross climates are more compliant than energy tyres and that will be what you are feeling, but they grip better, give better steering feel and are quieter in addition to the cold weather benefits.

Can you recommend a used seven-seater with a petrol engine?

"I am looking for a used seven-seater with a petrol engine and automatic gearbox. I'm split between the Nissan Qashqai+2 2.0 and the Toyota Verso 1.8. Both up to year 2012 or older. Which would you choose? "
Go for the Verso 1.8 Valvematic Multidrive S. Nissan CVTs not reliable. Qashqai centre rear seat is a backbreaker.

What's the most reliable seven seater?

"I have £10k to replace an old Zafira. Should I go for the newest Zafira I can get for this or a slightly older Volkswagen Touran or Toyota Verso. The car gets quite a hard life with four kids clambering in and out daily! Also car does lots of short town journeys do modern diesels mind this or would petrol be better? "
Toyota Verso, yes. Best Verso is the 1.8i Valvematic Multidrive S CVT auto. Avoid the awful diesels.

Buying a tall car - any suggestions?

"I have owned a Toyota Verso 1.8 for over four years and am about to change. We have loved the Toyota and may well get another, but I'm unsure how durable the CVT gearbox will be if I run the car for more than 5/6 years? Would a CR-V or CX5 be likely to last longer, or am I worrying about nothing? All the reviews say the Verso has a noisy gearbox, have I been very lucky, or just hard of hearing? We've had no complaints."
My review of the Verso 1.8i Valvematic Multidrive S does not say it has a noisy gearbox. Your transmission might need a scheduled fluid change (with Honda it's now every 2 years). But it should last well. See: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-verso-2009-road-test/ And: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/toyota/verso-2009/
