Fiat Croma (2005 – 2007) Review

Fiat Croma (2005 – 2007) At A Glance

3/5

+Comfortable hatch with a huge boot and good access to the front and rear seats in its very spacious cabin. Five-star crash test rating. Drives well.

-Rear seats don't fold completely flat. Road noise on rougher surfaces.

On average it achieves 90% of the official MPG figure

The Croma came back. And, knowing full well there was no way it could sell an ordinary car in a market stuffed to the gills with the Mondeo, Vectra, Mazda 6, Laguna and Avensis, to name but a few, Fiat came up with something different:

A cross between an estate car and an MPV at a hatchback price sort of sums it up.

It's a bit taller than the norm, so you sit slightly more upright. It's easier to get in and out of. You can almost ‘walk into it' like you can with a Ford C-MAX. And it's very comfortable, for up to five 6' adults with all their luggage. Plenty of leg, head and shoulder room, front and back. Smaller than the Renault Vel Satis, yet doing a similar sort of job.

Water leak on a Fiat Croma

"The nearside footwell of my Fiat Croma has severe water ingress - what could be causing it?"
Blocked drains to the bulkhead ventilation well leaving rainwater nowhere to go except into the car.

Cromalogical order

"I have had many trouble-free years driving Fiats, my current car being a Croma 2.2 auto (a superb car in most respects). However, it has recently developed an annoying "intermittent fault" in that the alarm will sound off soon after parking. Sometimes immediately, usually after about ten minutes, sometimes hours later. It has twice been checked by the local Fiat dealer who can find no fault? They offer to take the car in for a week in effort to trace the "gremlin" as they put it. Via Fiat UK I have spoken to other dealers who can only offer the same service. All very frustrating. Any ideas please?"
Possibly an over-sensitive volumetric sensor. Try switching the vents to recirculate, turn the heater to max, shut all closable cabin vents, point directional vents at the floor before leaving the car. If that doesn't work, it might be a spider coming out when the car is vacated and crawling over the sensor.
