Is it worth paying more for protected No Claims?

Is it worth paying a higher insurance premium on my Volkswagen Up to protect 15 years of No Claims Discount?

You have to look at what risk you present and the likelyhood of you being involved in an incident. If you commute in a busy city centre or live in an area where rates of theft and vandalism are high, then definitely get protected NCD. If you have a low insurance group vehicle - like you do - live in a rural area, do not commute and are a very experienced driver, then it probably isn't worth protecting.
