Can I keep my uninsured car on the road as long as it's taxed?

I'll be getting my new car next week. I'm going to transfer my insurance to the new car, but can I keep my old car on the road as long as I don't drive it? My tax doesn't end for another month.

If you don't re-insure your old car short-term you have to put it on a SORN and take it off the road: www.gov.uk/make-a-sorn/
