A car has been fraudulently registered in my daughter's name - how do we get the DVLA to remove her name from the registration?

I was contacted today by a debt collection agency looking for my daughter. It transpires that a car is registered in her name, about which she has no knowledge. A parking fine are is unpaid and a liability order was issued by Liverpool Magistrates Court as requested by Wirral Council. How do I deal with DVLA to get them to remove her name from the registration? Are there any other things I ought to be doing in relation to this issue? The debt agency accepted my explanation and say they will not be back in touch with me. My daughter did not even have a driving licence at the time of the offence and has never visited the area in question.

You need the registration that the debt collection agency used to trace the cloned car to your daughter. Then write to Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), Swansea, SA99 1ZA to tell them that your daughter is not the registered keeper of the vehicle with this registration and to put out an alert to the police to stop any car displaying those plates. Send it by Post Office Special Delivery, keep a copy and staple the certificate of posting to the copy so it becomes a matter of record. Also personally contact the police. It is a matter for them to trace and prosecute the culprit to prevent this illegal activity from continuing.
