How should three children be safely seated in an MPV?

Our daughter is bringing her five-year-old, three-year-old and nine-month-old children over from Australia for a month. Do we need an MPV for the three children plus three or four adults? Which would you recommend, and where can one hire them without paying a fortune? Could you also summarise child seating requirements by age and weight?
