Am I safe to consider any of the VAG diesels on the used market?

I'm looking to replace my car with a used Estate/SUV and at the moment am discounting all VAG diesels because of the doubtful emissions fixes. Am I safe to consider any of the VAG diesels on the used market?

VAG MQB A platform EA288 diesels from 2013 are all okay (Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf, SEAT Leon, Skoda Octavia). Particularly low NOx. But probably makes better sense to look at Hyundai/Kia 1.6. 1.7 and 2.0 CRDI. all of which are chain cam, seem to offer above average reliability and are covered by five year or seven year warranties from new.
