Does my two-year-old Hyundai i30 have a timing chain or belt?

I have just purchased a two-year-old 1.6 premium Hyundai i30, due in no small part to your favourable review. So far I am very impressed with the vehicle, but I have a couple of questions. I am sure the salesman told me there was a full-size alloy spare in the boot, although I naively didn't think to check. Now the vehicle is mine I find there is only a space-saver in there. Is this correct? I was also assured that the 1.6 petrol engine has a timing chain rather than belt, and would be grateful if you could confirm that is true.

Yes, standard spec is now a space saver. Yes, all 1.4 and 1.6 engines, petrol and diesel, are timing chain. Only the old 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines were belt.
