Why do your car reviews still recommend diesels when they're being demonised?

Why do your car reviews still recommend diesels, when London and other European capital cities are making owning diesel cars so much more difficult ?

EU6 diesels will incur no penalty when the new ULEZ rules are introduced in London in April 2019. They are not affected by the crit-air rules in France either as long at the owner displays the correct sticker. Older diesels are.
