My Ford Fiesta's power steering warning light doesn't go out - is there something wrong?

I have recently taken delivery of a nearly-new, 4900-mile Fiesta 1.6TDCi Titanium. After only a few days, I noticed that two warning lights, the engine management and power steering lights, did not go out despite waiting several minutes between turning on the ignition and starting the engine. I am reasonably certain that this was not the case when I initially had the car, as I was conscious of looking to check that the pre-heater light had gone out. I have returned to my local Ford agent who arranged for a technician to hear my concerns. Both the sales person and technician assured me that all was OK. I still feel that it if the engine management system does its checks and all is well, these lights should extinguish before the car is started.

If they go out after the car has been started then no worries.
