Will a car show as 'No MoT' on the government database if it is SORN?

I need a second hand car and my friend has offered to sell me his 2002 Ford Fiesta. He gave me the number plates but I’ve checked on the direct.gov website and it says the car has no tax or MOT. He doesn’t drive it and says it is SORN, that’s why the website shows: no MOT. But he insists he has MOT papers. I am due to view the car on Sunday but should I be weary?

Go to: vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ViewVehicle/ Key in the reg and the make of the car. The site will then give you the vehicle details with whether or not it has an MoT in the top right. Whether it's on SORN or not is irrelevant to that.
