Best seven-seater for £30k?

My son has a growing family and needs a bigger car. Mostly short journeys and he would like a car/SUV with occasional seven-seats and lots of space. An automatic would be useful, but not essential. Maximum budget would be £30K. Any thoughts / recommendations what he should look at?
