Used car has a faulty DPF - what are my rights?
Six months ago I bought a car from a well-known dealer for £10,000. It had done 30,000 miles when I bought it and I took out a warranty for three years. The clutch went after two months which they replaced. I have done 7000 miles since then and the DPF has failed. However, they tell me it is not covered by the warranty. I think the two faults in a short space of time says that the car is not fit for purpose. What is your view on the matter?

Less than six months from date of sale the dealer is automatically liable. More than six months you then have to prove that the fault pre-existed your purchase of the car. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
