Do cars with parking sensors pay higher insurance?

A colleague of mine has just passed her test and is looking for car insurance on her old Volkswagen Polo. She has been told that because her car has had reversing sensors added she must pay more due to the modification. Is this right? Surely the sensors should bring her premiums down, if anything?
