Buying a new seven-seater - Touran or C4 Grand Picasso?
We are looking to buy a new compact seven-seater and have narrowed our choices down to the Volkswagen Touran 2.0 diesel DSG and the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 diesel EAT. I am leaning towards the Touran as I feel that over a five year period it is more likely to retain value and give us reliability. What are your thoughts on these two cars?

A Touran 2.0TDI now has the new EA288 TDI engine so that should be no problem and it will have either a six-speed wet clutch or the new seven-speed wet clutch DSG, neither of which have the problems of the seven-speed dry clutch DSG. The problem with the Picasso might be with its 1.6 BlueHDI engine. This is very economical, but it's past history isn't great. The EAT6 torque converter auto is excellent and also works astonishingly well with the 1.2 PureTech 130 petrol engine. The BlueHDI requires the addition of AdBlue (£16 for 10 litres) and I think the 2.0HDI in the Touran does too.
