Vauxhall Astra making a knocking noise

I own a diesel Vauxhall Astra (2005 model). When driving, the car judders as it pulls away and makes a knocking noise. The sound and judder stop when I push the clutch in. Any idea what could be wrong?

Reads like a Dual Mass Flywheel problem, assuming this model was fitted with one.
