Need a family hatchback for £7000 - any recommendations?

Due to becoming a father, I am looking to upgrade my partner's 2006 Vauxhall Corsa to a family hatchback/SUV. Main points are: bootspace, economy (min 40mpg mix then petrol, if not diesel), reliability, warranty and spec. I have £7000 to spend. Any recommendations would be appreciated
