Volkswagen Polo warranty claim being refused - what can I do?
My daughter has a 14 plate 1.4 TDI Polo and the ACC and AC have stopped working. The local Volkswagen dealer where the car was bought second hand claim it is due to impact damage and won't cover the £900 repair under warranty. There has been no collision in the car and only a small stone chip near the front skirt of the car. Can you suggest an approach to take to get Volkswagen to repair this under warranty?

What the dealer means is stone damage to the condenser radiator matrix and, even though it is vulnerable, impact damage is never covered by warranty. However, these condensers are standard parts, so a car air-conditioning specialist should be able to replace it and re-gas the a/c for about £400.
